After realising that I had read 49 books in 2005 I resolved to read at least 52 in 2006... this is my record of that attempt. I will post the details of each book or paper I read and like minded people can make comments and/or make suggestions. A posting doesn't necessarily mean I recommend it, just that I have read it!

Last Man Down by Richard Picciotto

Title: Last Man Down - The Fireman's Story
Author: Richard "Pitch" Picciotto with Daniel Paisner
Type: Non-fiction
ISBN: 0-75285-262-0
Published: 2002
Comments: Just shy of 200 pages and I read it in 1 day! Such an easy to read account of the terrors experienced during the collapse of the Twin Towers and the miraculous survival of a few firemen still inside when the last tower collapsed.

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

Title: Fahrenheit 451
Author: Ray Bradbury
Type: Fiction
ISBN: 0-00-654606-4
Published: 1976
Comments: A great short futuristic novel about "Firemen" who are employed not to fight fires, but light to them so they can burn... Books! which are illegal. No one talks to anyone anymore and the main form of entertainment is their television sets (TV Walls). A slightly odd writing style, possibly due to having only written short stories previously, but readable all the same.

The Coral Island by R.M. Ballantyne

Title: The Coral Island
Author: R. M. Ballantyne

Prosperity Denied by (Sir) Bob Jones

Title: Prosperity Denied - How the Reserve Bank Harms New Zealand
Author: (Sir) Bob Jones
Type: Non-fiction
ISBN: 0-908812-64-7
Published: 1996
Comments: "Essential reading for anyone interested in New Zealand's future" reads the back of this book and I'd tend to agree, a little deeper than your average book about the New Zealand economy, Bob gives some interesting insights into how the New Zealand economy is being constrained by the Reserve Bank's focus on inflation.

Adventure Capitalist by Jim Rogers

Title: Adventure Capitalist
Author: Jim Rogers
Type: Non-fiction
ISBN: 0-375-50912-7
Published: 2003
Comments: Quite an interesting book about a couple driving around the world, commenting on investment opportunities as they went. They even made it to New Zealand and managed to find "some" nice things to say about New Zealand...
